Many strange creatures inhabited Jabba the Hutt's castle on Tatooine. Some were unsavory throne room guests and performers, while others dwelled below the palace, in a dungeon-like atmosphere. 8D8 was a smelter Droid, lanky and simple-minded in his endeavors. He assisted EV-9D9 in terrorizing Jabba the Hutt's incarcerated Droids. Generally limited to mundane chores in the clammy confines of ore-extraction facilities, 8D8 had been reprogrammed for sadism. Many an unfortunate mechanical suffered under his harm-inducing supervision.
