Bounty hunter Boba Fett, son of Jango Fett, was hired by Darth Vader to capture the escaping Millennium Falcon. Fett was also paid handsomely for its apprehended captain, Han Solo, by Tatooine criminal kingpin Jabba the Hutt, who had been seeking revenge against Solo for unpaid debts. Fett was visiting Jabba when Solo's rebel friends launched a daring rescue effort, which led them all to the dreaded pit of Carkoon and the insatiable all-consuming Sarlacc that dwelled within.
