Distant relatives of porgs, Lanais were female Caretakers who looked after the villages of Ahch-To, and more specifically, inhabitant Luke Skywalker during his significant stay on the island. They lived in a hillside village that overlooked a cave, where the male of the species, or "Visitors," would make regular landings after periods at sea. The Lanais Caretakers maintained absolute silence as they performed their tasks of upkeep year after year.
