Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi were sent on a special diplomatic mission to convince Nute Gunray's aggressive Trade Federation that invading planet Naboo would be a disaster. It was hoped that these opposing forces could be persuaded to find common cause, with the Jedi doing their best to ease tensions on both sides.
