The ever-resourceful Tobias Beckett seemed quite pleased with his ragtag crew of scoundrels, who often had more going for them than met the eye. Many were uncertain about fellow member Val because of a prickliness in her responses. Truth to tell, this straight-faced markswoman – a crack shot with her blaster rifle – had a level head on her shoulders, with Val's ingenuity often getting her mates out of tight spots.
